FAQs
What is a Freer periosteal elevator used for?
It is used to separate the gum and periosteum from the underlying bone once the gingival tissue has been incised, raising a mucoperiosteal flap so the bone can be seen and worked on.
How is the Freer different from the Molt N9 and Prichard?
The Freer has two narrow ends of the same 4.0mm width. The Molt N9 pairs a 7mm end with a 4mm end, and the Prichard pairs a 10mm end with a 4.5mm end, so each of those has a broader end for reflecting wider areas of tissue.
What material is this instrument made from?
The handle is corrosion-resistant AISI 304 stainless steel, the working ends are hardened Japanese-standard J2 stainless steel, and the instrument is fully autoclavable.
