FAQs
What is a Prichard periosteal elevator used for?
It is used to lift the mucoperiosteum away from the bone once the gum has been incised, then to hold the reflected flap back so the bone underneath stays in view during periodontal and other oral surgical procedures.
Why does it have two different ends?
The narrow end is used to begin separating the tissue from the bone, while the broad flat end reflects and holds back the larger area of the flap.
What material is this instrument made from?
It is made from plain stainless steel with no coating, and it can be sterilised in an autoclave along with your other surgical instruments.
