What is the No. 23 explorer used for?
The shepherd's hook tip is drawn across tooth surfaces and restoration margins to detect softened enamel, cavitation, overhangs and defective margins by tactile feel.
What do the CP12 markings mean?
The probe is banded at 3, 6, 9 and 12 millimetres, so periodontal pocket depth can be read directly against the gingival margin during a full-mouth assessment.
Why choose a silicone handle?
A moulded silicone handle is wider and lighter than a solid steel one, so it takes less pinch force to control the instrument. Across a full day of appointments that means noticeably less hand fatigue, and the textured surface keeps its grip when wet or gloved.
