Does the slot size change the gauge?
Yes. The gauge is matched to the slot system so the measurement references the correct point on the bracket. Using an .018 gauge on .022 brackets introduces an error across the whole arch.
Is this the steel or aluminium version?
This is the stainless steel gauge. It is heavier and more durable than the aluminium alternative and can be autoclaved repeatedly without degrading.
