The Lucas 87 is a spoon-shaped surgical curette used to debride an extraction socket and lift out granulation or cystic tissue. Its larger spoon clears a socket in fewer passes than the finer Lucas patterns, and the moulded silicone handle gives a secure grip when working with wet gloves.

What is a Lucas curette used for?
After an extraction it clears the socket of granulation tissue, debris and any cystic lining, leaving clean bone so the site can heal properly.
How do the Lucas 84, 85, 86 and 87 differ?
They share the same design in increasing spoon sizes. Smaller numbers suit narrow anterior sockets and fine work; the 87 carries the largest spoon for molar sockets and bulkier tissue.
Why choose a silicone handle?
A moulded silicone handle is wider and lighter than a solid steel one, so it takes less pinch force to control the instrument. Across a full day of appointments that means noticeably less hand fatigue, and the textured surface keeps its grip when wet or gloved.
