What is a CPITN probe used for?
It is the standard probe for periodontal screening and BPE scoring. The ball end and colour band let you score a sextant quickly without measuring every site precisely.
Why choose a silicone handle?
A moulded silicone handle is wider and lighter than a solid steel one, so it takes less pinch force to control the instrument. Across a full day of appointments that means noticeably less hand fatigue, and the textured surface keeps its grip when wet or gloved.
What material is this instrument made from?
The working end is hardened Japanese-standard J2 stainless steel, which holds its edge through repeated autoclave cycles, set into a moulded silicone handle. Both are fully autoclavable.
