The Misura is a double-ended composite layering instrument with a moulded silicone handle, used to help judge the thickness of composite layers when building up an anterior restoration. One end has an angled shank ending in a slim cylinder that steps down to a thin, straight pin; the other has an angled shank ending in a short, wider tip with a small step at the end.
- Thin pin end rests on sound enamel while the wider section presses back uncured dentine composite, leaving room for the enamel layer
- Short, wider end lies along the cavity margin to help judge the enamel composite needed at the finishing line
- Ergonomic silicone grip, lightweight and comfortable
- AISI 304 stainless steel working ends, fully autoclavable
FAQs
How is the Misura used?
Once the dentine composite is in place, and before it is cured, the thin pin is rested on the sound enamel beside the restoration while the wider section of that end presses back the excess uncured dentine. This leaves space for the final enamel layer. The short, wider end is then laid flat along the edge of the prepared cavity, still touching natural enamel, to help judge how much enamel composite is needed at the finishing line.
Is this the Posterior Misura?
No. The Posterior Misura is a separate instrument in the same range, designed for back teeth.
Why choose a silicone handle?
A moulded silicone handle is wider and lighter than a solid steel one, giving a comfortable, controlled hold through a full day of appointments, and the textured surface helps keep a secure grip.
What material is this instrument made from?
The working ends are AISI 304 stainless steel, set into a moulded silicone handle. Both are fully autoclavable.
Handle colour: choose Purple or Pink. Both are the same instrument; only the handle colour differs.
The Misura is also included in our Composite Filling Instruments Kit (10 Pieces) Silicone Handle.
