The 204SD is a slimmer version of the 204S sickle scaler, fitted with a moulded silicone handle. The reduced blade profile slips into tight interproximal contacts and around crowded anterior teeth where a full-size sickle is too bulky.

When would I use the 204SD instead of the 204S?
Choose the 204SD where contacts are tight or teeth are crowded and a standard sickle blade cannot seat properly. The 204S remains the better choice for heavier deposits and more open contacts.
Why choose a silicone handle?
A moulded silicone handle is wider and lighter than a solid steel one, so it takes less pinch force to control the instrument. Across a full day of appointments that means noticeably less hand fatigue, and the textured surface keeps its grip when wet or gloved.
What material is this instrument made from?
The working end is hardened Japanese-standard J2 stainless steel, which holds its edge through repeated autoclave cycles, set into a moulded silicone handle. Both are fully autoclavable.
