DETAILS AND CARE

A curved periotome, or luxating elevator, with a fine 2.0mm blade. It pairs the narrow width needed for slim roots with a curved working end that follows the root surface where a straight instrument is awkward to position, such as towards the back of the mouth. The blade is eased into the periodontal ligament space and worked around the root to sever the ligament fibres, so the tooth loosens before forceps go on. Because the blade cuts within the ligament space rather than pushing against bone, it suits extractions where keeping the socket walls matters.

  • Curved 2.0mm blade: a narrow width combined with a curve for reaching slim roots further back in the arch
  • Small enough to work into tight ligament spaces and towards the apex
  • Thin cutting blade for severing the periodontal ligament, not for prising
  • Japanese-standard J2 stainless steel working tip
  • PPU handle; sold individually

FAQs

Why choose a curved blade over a straight one?

A curve helps the blade follow the root when the tooth cannot be approached in a straight line, which is often the case with posterior teeth. Straight blades give the most direct access to front teeth.

Is this one included in the 7-piece set?

No. The set contains a 2.0mm straight periotome but not this 2.0mm curved version, so it is a useful addition if you prefer a curved blade in the narrowest width.

How should it be used?

Insert the blade into the ligament space along the root and work around the tooth with light, controlled pressure. It is not designed for levering or twisting, which can damage a blade this fine.
