An inverted periotome, also called a luxating elevator, with a 3.0mm blade. The blade is curved the opposite way to a standard curved periotome, which helps it reach the lingual and distal surfaces of the root. As with any periotome, the thin blade is worked into the periodontal ligament space to cut the ligament fibres and loosen the tooth before forceps are applied, cutting within that space rather than levering against the bone.
- Inverted 3.0mm blade for general use and for lingual and distal root surfaces
- Reverse curve complements a standard curved periotome when working all the way around a root
- Thin blade for severing the periodontal ligament, not for prising
- Japanese-standard J2 stainless steel working tip
- PPU handle; sold individually
FAQs
What does "inverted" mean on a periotome?
The blade is turned the opposite way to a standard curved tip. That reversed curve makes it easier to reach the back (distal) and tongue-side (lingual) surfaces of a root that a standard curve may not reach comfortably.
Do I still need a standard curved periotome?
They work well together. A standard curved blade covers much of the root, and the inverted blade helps with the lingual and distal surfaces.
What is it made from?
A Japanese-standard J2 stainless steel working tip in a PPU handle.
