DETAILS AND CARE

A dual edge straight periotome, or luxating elevator, with a fine stepped 3/1.5mm working end. The tip steps from a narrow 1.5mm section to a 3mm section, so the slimmest part can be guided into a tight periodontal ligament space first and the rest follows gradually. This finer dual edge design is commonly used on deep fractured and decayed roots, where the root margin can be hard to find and space is limited. The blade cuts the ligament fibres along the root to loosen it, and because the edge is keen and the tip slender, it needs careful, light handling.

  • Fine stepped 3/1.5mm dual edge tip for deep fractured and decayed roots in tight spaces
  • Narrow leading section for a gradual, controlled entry into the ligament space
  • Straight shank for in-line access
  • Japanese-standard J2 stainless steel working tip
  • PPU handle; sold individually

FAQs

How is this different from the 5/3mm dual edge?

It is the smaller of the two stepped designs, with a finer 3/1.5mm tip for slimmer roots and narrower spaces. The 5/3mm suits broader roots.

Does the fine tip need special care?

Yes. A tip this thin is delicate. Use light pressure along the root and never lever or twist with it, as that can bend or break the tip.

What is it made from?

The working tip is Japanese-standard J2 stainless steel, fitted to a PPU handle.
