What is the difference between the 17 and 23 ends?
The 23 shepherd's hook is drawn across tooth surfaces to pick up softening, cavitation and surface change by feel. The 17 is shorter, finer and angled, made to slip below the gum line and between teeth to find calculus the hook cannot reach.

A moulded silicone handle is wider and lighter than a solid steel one, giving a comfortable, controlled hold through a full day of appointments, and the textured surface helps keep a secure grip.
What material is this instrument made from?
