DETAILS AND CARE

The Composite Sculpting Instrument with Pad Holder, Silicone Handle is a double-ended composite instrument with a moulded silicone handle. One end has an angled shank that bends twice before ending in a flat paddle with a rounded end; the other has a slim, tapering shank with a slight bend just before a small ring with a hole through the middle. The ring holds a separate, single-use modelling pad, which is used to shape and smooth composite before it is cured. Pads are not included.

  • Ring end holds a single-use modelling pad, used to press composite against the tooth and shape it before it is cured, mainly on front teeth
  • Flat paddle end for placing composite on the tooth
  • Instrument only: no pads are supplied with it
  • Ergonomic silicone grip, lightweight and comfortable
  • AISI 304 stainless steel working ends, fully autoclavable

FAQs

What is this instrument used for?

It is a hand instrument for shaping composite before it is cured. A pad is fitted into the ring end and used to press the composite against the tooth (known as adapting it), shape it and smooth its surface. It is mainly used on front teeth, for example when building up direct composite veneers or larger fillings on front teeth. The flat paddle on the other end can be used to place composite on the tooth before it is shaped with the pad.

Are pads included?

No. This listing is for the instrument only, and no pads come with it. The ring end is designed to hold a separate modelling pad. The pads are single-use, so the used pad is taken off before the instrument is cleaned and autoclaved.

Why choose a silicone handle?

A moulded silicone handle is wider and lighter than a solid steel one, giving a comfortable, controlled hold through a full day of appointments, and the textured surface helps keep a secure grip.

What material is this instrument made from?

The working ends are AISI 304 stainless steel, set into a moulded silicone handle. Both are fully autoclavable.

Handle colour: choose Grey or Pink. Both are the same instrument; only the handle colour differs.
