DETAILS AND CARE

The Applica is a double-ended composite instrument with a moulded silicone handle. Each end has an angled shank ending in a thin, flat blade with a rounded end. It is a slim spatula used to take composite to the tooth and shape it, layer by layer, as a restoration is built up.

  • For carrying composite to the tooth and shaping each layer into place
  • Thin, flat blades for building up the side (proximal) walls of a filling against a matrix, on front and back teeth
  • Ergonomic silicone grip, lightweight and comfortable
  • AISI 304 stainless steel working ends, fully autoclavable

FAQs

What is the Applica used for?

It is a hand instrument for layered composite work. The flat blades pick up composite, carry it to the tooth and work it into shape. Because the blades are thin, they can be used in tight areas, such as the space between neighbouring teeth, and to shape composite up against a matrix when the side (proximal) wall of a filling is being rebuilt. It can also be used to gently smooth a layer of composite.

Is this the Applica Twist?

No. The Applica Twist is a separate instrument in the same range.

Why choose a silicone handle?

A moulded silicone handle is wider and lighter than a solid steel one, giving a comfortable, controlled hold through a full day of appointments, and the textured surface helps keep a secure grip.

What material is this instrument made from?

The working ends are AISI 304 stainless steel, set into a moulded silicone handle. Both are fully autoclavable.

Handle colour: choose Brown or Pink. Both are the same instrument; only the handle colour differs.

The Applica is also included in our Composite Filling Instruments Kit (10 Pieces) Silicone Handle.

Manufactured by InstruDental, UK specialists in dental hand instruments.

Colour note: Handle colours may look slightly different in person due to screen brightness, settings and lighting.
